Alexandra Rouin has experience in a variety of practice areas relating to the assessment, repair and rehabilitation, and design of building envelope systems in both existing buildings and new construction projects.

Ms. Rouin has experience in the evaluation of existing buildings, typically at locations of water leakage and deterioration, and has contributed to determination of appropriate repairs and repair materials in order to meet clients’ needs and resolve the issues. During her time at BC&E, Ms. Rouin has evaluated and consulted on various types of building envelope systems for apartments, condominiums, single family homes, and parking structures. She has also completed existing condition surveys of the structural concrete at parking structures and stairs for repairs and prioritization of replacement.

Ms. Rouin has consulted in the design of building envelope components during new construction and rehabilitation projects through peer reviews of architectural and shop drawings as well as creation of envelope related details. She has carried out QA/QC review and observations regarding the installation of continuous air, vapor, thermal and water barriers as part of the building envelope systems.

Ms. Rouin has provided construction administration services for new construction and renovation projects. She has completed observations regarding the installation of exterior elements including roofing, plaza and below grade waterproofing, weather barriers, insulation and fenestration as well as their integration. She has particular expertise in field testing of the installed building envelope components, including water penetration and leakage air testing of window assemblies, whole building and unit air leakage testing.
